Safety First; Antenna integration for DMS - Smart vehicles

Road traffic crashes result in the deaths of approximately 1.3 million people around the world each year and leave between 20 and 50 million people with non-fatal injuries. (Source W.H.O.)
Improving safety in the vehicle is part of the common objectives of the vehicle’s constructors and the W.H.O.

What is DMS Driver monitoring System?
DMS stands for Driver Monitoring System. Its role is to alert the driver to pay attention to control the vehicle. The driver monitoring system can analyze head movement, facial recognition, heart rate, blinking. The system is also equipped with steering angle sensor and a pre-collision system.
The functionalities keep being improved to increase safety toward diverse aspects of driver behavior before and during driving.
Taxi, delivery vehicles, long-haul trucks are mostly susceptible to feel fatigue regarding the time spend on the road. The DMS can recognize the eyes signs of tiredness, for example, and alert the driver.

Safety First; Antenna integration for DMS - Smart vehicles - Grand-Tek

Integrated systems
Inside the DMS itself, there are sensors, interior camera, LDS antenna, and other components. The integrated components allow to connect it with the cloud and send real-time data to be analyzed by fleet managers within a very compact space. Then abnormal behaviors or parameters will be identified, and actions taken accordingly.
Grand-Tek designs LDS -Laser Direct Structuring- and chip antenna to be integrated into DMS.
The markets for DMS are expected to reach more than $1.60 billion in 2025. Among the major players are Delphi Automotive PLC, Visteon Corporation, Valeo SA, Continental AG.
